I was a bundle of emotions when I found out I was pregnant for the second time. My oldest had just turned a year old. The pregnancy hadn't been too bad, but the hospital experience hd been a nightmare! I was determined not to go through that again. I went to the internet and started searching. That's when I found Mollie. I couldn't have asked for more! Mollie was so patient with me the entire pregnancy. When Eric and I found out I was pregnant with our first child in 2004 we had no doubts that a midwife assisted homebirth was the way we'd go. Both of us were born at home. Eric's mom was attended by a doctor who did natural births, and my mother had five of her six children with midwives at home (the 5th was born in the hallway of a hospital, completely unassisted, and this bit of family lore always strengthened my belief that in an uncomplicated birth women can pretty much handle it themselves). Read more »

My husband and I never saw ourselves as 'home birthing people'. On our third birth we found Mollie and had a wonderful birth with her in a birthing center. On this our fourth, we were very comfortable with her standard of care and the idea of doing a home birth. We kept the gender of our baby a surprise, though little did we know the overshadowing surprise this baby had in store for us. Read more »
